The Argentinians have said enough to the exploitation of their public resources by those who not only do not contribute but also despise our identity. The demand for charging for health and education for foreigners exploded definitively after the 2026 World Cup final, where the Argentine National Team was the victim of an “institutional” and refereeing “maneuver” to prevent Lionel Messi from lifting another cup. This social outrage deepened upon learning that the attack on the country was a “mega international campaign”, reported as paid and financed from abroad.
In line with the mandate for order and justice from the Argentine people, the national government of Javier Milei has already authorized by decree the collection of fees from non-resident foreigners in health and education.
Currently, the effective implementation of this measure depends on the political will of each governor and provincial authorities, who have in their hands the possibility of allocating those resources “prioritizing Argentinians”.
The indignation reached its boiling point after the viralization of videos and posts from foreign students, many of them enrolled at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), who celebrated Argentina's defeat against Spain. What began as a sports taunt escalated to “explicit mockery linked to the Malvinas Cause, the memory of the fallen, and other national symbols”.
It is intolerable that, while they have “free access to public university education” funded by the Argentine taxpayer, these individuals disrespect the country that shelters them. In response, thousands of users demand the expulsion of those involved or the immediate removal of the benefit of free education.
This foreign disdain has its correlate in the upper echelons of world football. The “theft” of the final was not casual: Gianni Infantino was being heavily questioned by European federations and threatened with being removed as FIFA president. The UEFA, led by Aleksander Čeferin, warned that if Argentina won, they would move to oust him, accusing him of favoring the National Team.
