The Provincial Directorate of Aeronautics deployed aerial resources over the highest risk areas to strengthen the early detection of fire hotspots and optimize the response capacity in the event of emergencies
In the context of the very high to extreme risk of wildfires in Córdoba, the Provincial Directorate of Aeronautics deployed a helicopter and two firefighting planes to carry out aerial surveillance tasks over strategic areas of the province.
A helicopter equipped with a Bambi Bucket system conducted two patrol flights aimed at enhancing early detection of potential fire hotspots and optimizing the response capacity to possible emergencies.
The first route covered towns in Sierras Chicas and Punilla, flying over Villa Allende, Mendiolaza, Unquillo, Río Ceballos, Salsipuedes, Agua de Oro, La Granja, Ascochinga, La Cumbre, Villa Giardino, La Falda, Cosquín, Bialet Massé, Villa Carlos Paz, and La Calera. The mission was led by pilots Gabriel Marcellini and Monje Bottino.
Córdoba and the risk of rural fires
The aircraft conducted a second patrol over areas of Punilla and Paravachasca, flying over La Calera, Villa Carlos Paz, San Antonio de Arredondo, Las Jarillas, San Clemente, Potrero de Garay, Anisacate, Alta Gracia, and Malagueño. The flight was commanded by pilots Monje Bottino and Alfonso Berrini.
As part of the same preventive device, two Air Tractor AT-802 firefighting planes, one single-seat and one two-seat, reinforced aerial coverage over the highest risk areas. The mission covered a polygon of 256,541 hectares in sectors of the departments of Punilla, Santa María, and Calamuchita, with an approximate duration of 40 minutes.
Pilots Santodomingo participated aboard the aircraft LV-BIU, and Hernán Vázquez and Alejandro Kowalewski in the LV-KOW, a two-seat aircraft also used for training tasks.
These actions are part of the preventive scheme that the Provincial Directorate of Aeronautics implements during the wildfire risk season, in coordination with the agencies that make up the Provincial Fire Management System.
