The national deputy of La Libertad Avanza, Federico Pelli, spoke again after the brutal aggression he suffered in the Tucuman town of La Madrid while participating in a solidarity tour due to the floods. After undergoing surgery for a fractured septum, the legislator reconstructed the episode, denounced the inaction of the provincial police and targeted sectors linked

to local power.

According to him, the initiative had emerged after verifying the seriousness of the situation that several areas of Tucumán affected by the storm were going through. After that, his team organized a collection and traveled to La Madrid to deliver mattresses, clothes and other supplies to the victims. It was in that context, in the midst of an assistance action, that the violent attack took place.

The assailant was identified as Marcelo Segura.

Pelli said that the libertarian group was progressing normally and received a good response from neighbors until a group led by Marcelo “Pichón” Segura appeared, identified by different means as the aggressor. According to the deputy, Segura tried to prevent the passage of the entourage and, after an argument, headbutted him in the face, causing a serious injury. The legislator himself assured that, after the impact, he lost track of what was happening around

him.

The episode not only left the deputy hospitalized and then surgically operated on, but it also re-exposed the tightening methods that dominated Tucuman politics for years. Pelli maintained that Segura was acting on the spot with sufficient authority to coordinate movements and harshly questioned the attitude of the provincial police, which he accused of having reacted with alarming “apathy” in the face of blatant

aggression.

Along these lines, he stressed that in any normal situation the aggressor should have been reduced immediately, something that did not happen. According to his version, it was members of the La Libertad Avanza team who had to insist that the police finally act. The sequence generated even more suspicion because of the context in which the incident occurred and because of the aggressor's closeness to structures of the provincial government

The name of Darío Monteros, Tucumán's interior minister, also appeared in the midst of controversy. Pelli said that many people link Segura to that political environment and said he did not understand what role it played in the operation

.

His colleague Soledad Molinuevo, a witness to the attack, maintained that Monteros was a few meters from the scene of the incident, in a tent set up in the area. The minister, for his part, publicly repudiated the attack, as did Governor Osvaldo Jaldo

.

In closing, the deputy warned that the coup could have had even worse consequences. He pointed out that, because of the area in which it hit, he could have lost an eye or suffered even more severe damage, and he did not rule out having to undergo

a new intervention.
