Within the framework of its great relationship with Donald Trump, the Government of Javier Milei is advancing a defense agenda that includes the acquisition of key military equipment.
In this context, Defense Minister Carlos Presti will hold a meeting at the Pentagon this Monday with the US Undersecretary of War, Joseph Humire.
The central objective of the meeting will be to advance the negotiation for the purchase of Black Hawk helicopters, aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the Argentine Armed Forces.
The Defense portfolio already has items allocated in the budget to complete this acquisition. The official intention is that aircraft can be incorporated into the country before the end of the year, in line with a broader plan to modernize the national defense system

Presti's mission in Washington is based on a previous study carried out by the military leadership, aimed at redefining the role of the Armed Forces
in the current scenario.
In an international context marked by hybrid threats, where risks do not always come from traditional state actors, the strategic approach aims to strengthen the capacity to respond to new challenges.
Among the priorities of the Ministry of Defense is the protection of critical infrastructure, considered essential for economic development and national security. This list includes resources such as lithium, rare earths, gas reserves, the Vaca Muerta field, nuclear power plants, ports and

During the meeting with Humire, Presti will discuss the country's willingness to move forward not only in the purchase of Black Hawk helicopters, but also in the incorporation of technology to improve defense against possible cyberattacks. The objective is to strengthen the defensive system and optimize the capacity to respond immediately to possible threats.
Recent experience in international conflicts also influences this strategy: energy facilities such as gas plants and gas pipelines became military targets, reinforcing the need to protect strategic assets in Argentine territory.
In particular, the libertarian administration aims to protect key areas such as Vaca Muerta and the future 500-kilometer gas pipeline, considered pillars of the country's energy development.
