"Dear Mauro, today we do not speak of farewell, but of legacy. That you no longer wear the Galatasaray jersey will not change the place you occupy in our hearts. Because you have conquered the throne in the heart of every galatasaraylı, from 7 to 70 years old," the club expressed at the beginning of the message.
The letter also reviewed the sporting achievements of the striker and the bond he built with the institution during his tenure. "The goals you scored, the top scorer titles you experienced, the records you broke, and the trophies you lifted are one thing; you lived the passion for Galatasaray and transmitted it to millions. You are no longer just someone who has written their name in golden letters in the club's history, but a value that will live forever among the unforgettable legends of Galatasaray," it noted.
In the final part of the statement, recognition was directed at the impact Icardi had on the new generations of supporters. "Dear captain who made an entire generation galatasaraylı, if today children feel pride in saying ‘I am galatasaraylı’, you have a great part of the credit for that. All galatasaraylı know this... Such love is not forgotten," the institution concluded.
With the closure of this stage, Icardi is now a free agent and will begin to define the next destination of his career.
