The father of Ángel López, the 4-year-old boy who died in Comodoro Rivadavia, said that his son “was beaten and tortured” before he died and targeted both his biological mother and his stepfather, arrested yesterday in the case, as against the actions of the judicial system that intervened in the reassociation process

.

Luis López's statements came after the preliminary results of the autopsy were released, which determined that the minor had “trauma to the cranial area” and injuries compatible with blows that occurred at least ten days before his death.

Based on these elements, the Chubut Police arrested Mariela Altamirano and her partner, Maicol González, who will be charged with homicide aggravated by the link.

The boy had been transferred on April 5 to a hospital in Comodoro Rivadavia in critical condition, after decompensating in his mother's home

.

According to the investigation, he was there because of a judicial decision as part of a reconnection process. He was admitted with cardiorespiratory arrest and died two days later, despite resuscitation maneuvers performed

by medical personnel.

At first, the mother maintained that the child had decompensated while he was sleeping. However, that version began to lose support when doctors detected signs of internal injuries

.

A hospital report had already warned that there was a “history of previous trauma”, which was decisive in advancing the investigation and specifying the arrests.

The father's statements

In this context, the boy's father expressed his strong pain for what happened. “They took him out of my house, from our family, who lived well, happy, happy. They took him to kill him. Because they didn't take care of him, they killed him, they tortured him,” he said during an interview with Radio Mitre

.

López maintained that his son lived with him since his birth in an environment that he described as stable and affectionate. “They were four beautiful and happy years,” he recalled, while questioning the court decision that led to the loss of tenure in favor of the

biological mother.

As revealed, the woman had previously abandoned the child and then initiated actions to recover it. “He left him, he left, as he did with the other children of Misiones. And then I wanted to have it,” he said. As a result of this process, a judicial dispute developed that culminated in the transfer of the child to maternal housing, a situation that he described as “a horror

”.

Criticism also reached the professionals who intervened in the case. López pointed to the psychologist who participated in the reconnection process, whom he held responsible for the reports that led to the change of custody. “He made a false note to get the baby out of me and hand him over to the murderer and the murderer,” he reported

.

In addition, he assured that he did not have full participation in the judicial process. “They didn't let me participate, they didn't call me. I doubt until they have brought my son to that supposed hearing,” he said, questioning the development of the actions

.

The father also reported situations that evidenced a deterioration in the child's living conditions after the change of custody. “I would send him dirty to the garden, hungry. I saw it, I have photos, videos. Nobody listened to me,” he said.

In that regard, he noted that he presented evidence to his lawyer and other authorities without obtaining answers. “If they had done things properly, my son would be alive,” he concluded

.

The case is still under investigation and progress is expected in the next few hours with the formal indictment of the detainees.
