Nicolás Paz has once again become news in the midst of the 2026 World Cup. While the Argentine National Team finalizes details for its upcoming match against Jordan, the young midfielder received a key update regarding his future: Real Madrid decided to execute the buyback clause with Como 1907.

The news was reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, who stated: "Real Madrid officially informs Como that they are activating the buyback clause of 9 million euros for Nico Paz. Nico returns and the club gives Como the opportunity to buy him for 60 million euros from now until Monday. Otherwise, next week Nico will be back at Real Madrid and back on the market for MORE than 60 million euros".

The operation, valued at nine million euros, had been contemplated since the moment the Spanish club transferred the player to the Italian team in 2024. After a season of great performance, in which he was one of the pillars that helped his team reach the semifinals of the Coppa Italia, finish 4th in Serie A, and qualify for an international tournament for the first time (notably the Champions League), the Madrid management decided to regain control over the future of one of the greatest prospects to emerge from their academy.

According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid's intention is not necessarily to incorporate Paz immediately into the first team, but to position themselves from a place of advantage against potential interested parties in the market. The Argentine's growth has significantly increased his market value, and the white entity understands that his participation in the World Cup could further enhance his worth.

Beyond market considerations, the 21-year-old midfielder remains focused on the Argentine National Team. After earning his first minutes in a World Cup during the victory against Algeria, he appears as one of the candidates to be included in the rotation that Lionel Scaloni is preparing for the match against Jordan.

As the World Cup progresses and the Albiceleste seeks its qualification for the next phase, Paz's future also begins to take shape. With Real Madrid once again owning his rights and several clubs attentive to his situation, the tournament serves as an ideal showcase to continue consolidating the growth of one of the Argentine footballers with the greatest projection in Europe.

Nico Paz's numbers at Como

Since his arrival at the Italian team in mid-2024, the Spain-born, but Argentine nationalized player has played 5,986 minutes, distributed over 75 matches, in which he scored 19 goals, provided 17 assists, and received 12 yellow cards. In the last season, he played 3,291 minutes in 40 matches, where he scored 13 goals, contributed 8 assists, and was booked 6 times.
