Three criminals attempted to rob a branch of Banco Galicia in Lomas del Mirador: there was a shootout inside the establishment and one of the suspects was arrested, while Axel Kicillof is in New York
In the context of the unprecedented security crisis that plagues the Province of Buenos Aires under the Kirchnerist administration, residents of Buenos Aires experienced a morning of absolute terror. Delving into the specific events, 3 armed criminals burst into the Banco Galicia branch located at the corner of Avenida San Martín and Eva Perón, in Lomas del Mirador, in the district of La Matanza, intending to rob the ATM area.
The target of the thugs was a 52-year-old man who was entering to deposit money in a backpack. When the victim resisted, a violent shootout erupted inside the establishment. Police sources initially reported the firing of 2 shots, although eyewitnesses claimed to have heard between 4, 5, 6, or even 7 shots. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
In the immediate absence of a police response, the customers themselves subdued and disarmed one of the robbers until the personnel from the 4th Police Station of Lomas del Mirador arrived. The apprehended criminal was identified as O.M.M., 42 years old, who was found with a .380 caliber pistol. Meanwhile, his 2 accomplices escaped in a Volkswagen T-Cross van. The judicial case was provisionally classified as attempted aggravated robbery of a bank.
The dramatic episode sparked panic among the neighbors. Rosa, the mother of one of the young men who intervened, recounted: "My son gets out and goes to the ATM. Just as my son is at the ATM, a guy with a backpack comes in. They park a van and two criminals get out. One jumps on the guy with the backpack...". The woman added that "...I heard the shots because he fired like four or five shots... They had subdued him and at least my son and the other young man were okay", concluding: "Thank God it was a misfortune with luck".

Additionally, a neighbor stated: "I heard the shots, the police were coming yes, but just by coincidence I didn't walk on the sidewalk, on this sidewalk. I always run errands and today just didn't. It seems that today I was protected. There is a lot of crime. A lot is happening". Similarly, an employee from a nearby store testified:
"I heard, there were like six, seven shots... It was in broad daylight, when the kids are coming out of school. When I heard the shots we closed the door and went inside... They were subduing the criminal and they hit him all. They got tired. In the block, they have robbed a couple of times". The public outrage at the official neglect was summarized by a local resident: "DON'T VOTE FOR KICILLOF ANYMORE, BECAUSE THESE THINGS HAPPEN. PAY ATTENTION TO WHO YOU VOTE FOR, SO WE ARE NOT LIKE THIS IN LA MATANZA".
While panic reigned in the suburbs, Governor Axel Kicillof traveled to the city of New York — a city of 8,120,000 inhabitants — to position his candidacy for the 2027 elections. At Gracie Mansion, he shared breakfast with the communist Muslim mayor Zohran Mamdani and the president of Spain and head of the Socialist International, Pedro Sánchez, along with Antonio Costa (President of the European Council) and Mia Amor Mottley (Prime Minister of Barbados).
The arrested criminal
Both international allies have a marked history against the homeland. Zohran Mamdani, promoter of an Islamic agenda, attacked Argentina claiming that the National Team had "stolen" the match from Egypt in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, the controversial leader Pedro Sánchez maintains a hate campaign against President Javier Milei, resorting to false accusations of "hate", "racism", and serious defamations of "drug addiction".
On the financial front, Axel Kicillof met with 10 investment funds that are creditors of provincial bonds, including Eaton Vance, Vanguard, GoldenTree, Mesarete, and BlackRock, along with advisor Javier Timerman. He also contacted executives from Microsoft, Mastercard, Google, MetLife, and Dreyfus, accompanied by Carlos Bianco (Minister of Government), Pablo López (Minister of Economy), Juan Manuel Padín (Undersecretary of International and Interjurisdictional Relations), and Cecilia Nicolini (Advisor on International Affairs).
The weapon used in the act
During these exchanges, he criticized the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) promoted by the National Government to attract capital through tax cuts and deregulations, stating: "Regarding the RIGI, we need an industrial policy that does not favor one sector over another but encompasses large and small companies that generate more quality employment and that considers the care of the environment and our natural resources".
Later, after speaking at The New School and at the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) at Columbia University, he sarcastically commented on C5N about Javier Milei's intervention at the UN, claiming that "Perhaps the novelty is that he talked for a while about the Malvinas". This ideological agenda contrasted sharply with the patriotic leadership of President Javier Milei, who during the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) reaffirmed Argentina's sovereign position, stating emphatically that "The Malvinas are a national cause for us".
