The situation is not limited to a discussion on social media. In February, the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil processed a formal request for information directed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to learn details about the migratory flow of Moroccans, including the routes used, profiles, and destination cities.

Amid the strong presence of illegal Moroccan immigrants in southern Brazil, the "fact-checking" outlet funded by George Soros' Open Society, Chequeado, came to the defense of the socialist dictator Lula da Silva and his Moroccan immigration policy towards southern Brazil

The outlet labeled the existence of the wave of Moroccans as "false," but at the same time admitted that dozens of them were recently assisted in Florianópolis.

In its publication, Chequeado stated that “a network of Argentine accounts spread a false ‘wave’ of Moroccan immigrants in Brazil and blamed Lula.”

However, in its own message, it confirms one of the main data used to warn about the migratory invasion. “An organization assisted 50 Moroccan citizens in Florianópolis over 3 months,” the outlet noted.

With the message, Chequeado maintains that “there is no evidence of a massive arrival of immigrants,” while the presence of around fifty Moroccans assisted in the same city evidences the existence of a flow that has begun to raise concerns in southern Brazil and Argentina.

The information disseminated by Bom Dia Santa Catarina, from the Globo network, was the origin of the controversy over the massive arrival of illegal immigrants to Brazil: 50 Moroccan immigrants were assisted over the last three months by assistance services in Florianópolis.

Additionally, there is a concrete precedent in Argentina. In May, two illegal Moroccan immigrants aged 27 and 28 were arrested in Concepción del Uruguay, Entre Ríos, after causing disturbances at the bus terminal and, according to reports, attempting to assault municipal workers.

Immigration authorities later determined that neither of the two had a legal entry into Argentina. Among their documents were records related to a precarious residence in Brazil, and authorities detected a prior migration alert in Santo Tomé, Corrientes.

Ultimately, both were expelled to Brazil, from where they had illegally entered Argentina, and received a five-year re-entry ban.

This precedent reinforces doubts about secondary movements from Brazil to Argentina. In this context, Misiones and Corrientes appear as particularly sensitive areas to potential illegal entries of Moroccans from the southern Brazilian states.

The situation underscores the need to maintain migration controls, verify documentation issued in Brazil, and detect possible entries through unauthorized crossings, especially following the arrival of numerous undocumented Moroccans in a neighboring country.
