The coach of Atlético de Madrid, Diego Simeone, spoke about the incorporation of Cristian “Cuti” Romero and highlighted the characteristics that, in his opinion, could make him an important piece for the red-and-white team.
The Argentine defender, recently transferred from Tottenham, has already joined the training sessions of the Madrid team, although he is not yet in a position to play his first match.
Simeone highlighted the virtues of “Cuti” Romero
In the press conference prior to the match against Málaga, Simeone referred to the arrival of the defender and listed the attributes he hopes he can develop at his new club.
“I see him as a player with all the footballing and personal values that identify him with Atlético de Madrid. And I hope that everything I am saying he can demonstrate, because, evidently, he comes to help us,” said the Argentine coach.
The “Cholo” also stated that Romero can become a reference within the locker room and particularly emphasized his personality and commitment. For Simeone, the defender embodies leadership, strength, quality, and hierarchy, in addition to a strong identification with the values that Atlético aims to convey.
When will Cristian Romero debut for Atlético de Madrid
Romero completed his arrival at Atlético de Madrid last Saturday, after his transfer from Tottenham was finalized. That same day he began working with the squad led by Simeone.
However, the Argentine defender will not be a starter nor will he have minutes against Málaga, as he still needs to accumulate training sessions and reach the necessary physical rhythm to compete officially.
