After several days of negotiations and various proposals, finallyBarcelonaandManchester City reached a definitive agreement for the transfer of Rodri. According to reports, the midfielder will become a new player for the Catalan team in exchange for 75 million euros including fixed amount and variables,and will sign a contract for four seasons (until mid-2030).
The understanding was reached this Sunday by Deco, responsible for the sports area of the Catalan team, and Hugo Viana, his main interlocutor in the English team. Now they need to complete the drafting and signing of the contracts, the medical review of the midfielder and the subsequent official announcement.
The operation went through different stages and began with a considerable difference between the demands of both clubs. Barcelona made five approaches, four formal and one verbal. In the first proposal, they offered 45 million euros fixed plus variables, while City responded with a demand close to 90 million.

From there, both parties began to come closer. The Catalan team progressively increased its offers, while the English club reduced its demands until reaching a figure that ended up being accessible for both sides. On Friday, Barcelona had put 70 million between fixed and variables on the table and, two days later, managed to close the deal at 75 million.
For his part, Rodri had prioritized Barcelona after dismissing the proposal from Real Madrid. The Spanish midfielder had a contract with Manchester City until mid-2027, although his desire to change clubs proved to be decisive in advancing the negotiation.

Since his arrival in mid-2019, the Madrid native played 22,925 minutes with the Citizens, distributed over 298 matches, in which he scored 28 goals, provided 32 assists, and received 53 yellow cards and 2 red cards, one for double booking and another direct.
