A former witness from the Highway Police revealed that there was an order to "let Oscar González pass" on the road

The sixth hearing of the trial against Oscar González, at the Villa Dolores Courts, revealed one of the strongest disclosures of the process so far. The witness Nelson Cortez, who served in the Highway Police, stated that from his superiors it was ordered to "let González pass" freely on the road.

"It was something common. He didn't have to be stopped," Cortez affirmed before the court. The witness added that many irregularities are silenced within the force and that those who are not functional to what is requested end up being harmed, a statement he made only now because, as he said, he no longer belongs to the Police.

The same witness recounted that, minutes before the crash, González's car overtook them at a speed he described as "very, very fast," estimating it to be double his own while he was traveling at 100 km/h. Another witness, Luis Friedreich, placed the speed of the vehicle between 120 and 130 km/h.

The reconstruction of the moments before Oscar González's crash

Jonathan Rodríguez and Ana Faraoni, occupants of a Fiat Siena that was traveling behind Alejandra Bengoa's car, stated that the teacher attempted to overtake a truck several times before succeeding, in a maneuver over a double yellow line. Neither of them saw the exact moment of the impact.

The truck driver, Roberto Pablo Carranza, stated that he also did not see the crash because at that moment he was looking at the pressure gauges of his unit. Nevertheless, he estimated that the impact occurred 80% within his own lane and 20% in the lane where González was traveling.

The account of the rescue and what comes next

Néstor Curatolo, who passed by the scene minutes after the crash, described the state in which he found the three women, hanging upside down by their seatbelts, and how he collaborated with others to rescue them until the police and firefighters arrived.

The trial will continue on Tuesday with the testimony of Ramiro Ojeda, an official expert in traffic accident analysis, who will have to scientifically reconstruct the crash. After that, it will be the turn of Álvaro Zaragoza, responsible for the virtual reconstruction included in the file.
