Ricardo Prim, father of the Argentine YouTuber Gaspar “Gaspi” Prim Díaz, broke the silence after his son's death in the helicopter collision that occurred in Rio de Janeiro and left a statement that opened a new chapter around the tragedy: “I don't believe it was an accident.” In an interview with Clarín, the man stated that, for him, the incident could have been “a terrorist attack.”
Gaspi died on Sunday along with five other people, including American singer Oliver Tree, Argentine director Lucas Vignale, Brazilian producer Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac. The tragedy occurred in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area when two helicopters collided mid-flight and then fell to the ground. The causes are still under investigation by Brazilian authorities.
Oliver Tree and Gaspi were victims of a brutal incident
Amid the pain, Ricardo Prim shared that he did not personally know Oliver Tree, but stated that in recent hours he received information that led him to distrust the version of a simple accident. “It is not known if it was an accident or a terrorist attack. I did not know the American singer who was with him, but I have received a lot of information, and I believe it was not an accident. For me, it was a terrorist attack,” he asserted.
The suspicion of Gaspi's father is linked to various versions that circulated on social media about Oliver Tree, an artist known for his provocative style and for using uncomfortable references against the American cultural establishment in his work. Among those versions, his followers mentioned supposed allusions to the so-called “Pizza Gate,” the scandal that erupted in 2016 surrounding accusations of trafficking and abuse of minors linked to the Democratic Party in the United States.
Beyond the hypotheses, Ricardo Prim also dedicated a good part of his testimony to remembering his son. From his bookstore in Puerto Madryn, he described Gaspi as a creative, sensitive, and perfectionist young man who from a young age showed an enormous ability to imagine stories and transform his ideas into content. “I always saw creativity in him. When he was a kid, I said he would be a film director,” he recalled.
The father of the influencer also defended Gaspi's memory against malicious rumors that circulated after his death. He assured that his son “never did drugs” and emphasized that he had a strong work ethic. According to him, he rejected advertisements for games because he did not want to encourage gambling addiction among his younger followers.
