Journalist Fernanda Iglesias revealed the reason behind the videos recorded by Jesica Cirio and why they have come to light now. The scandalous videos emerge amid the judicial investigation into the questioned assets of Cirio's ex-husband, the former Kirchnerist mayor of Lomas de Zamora MartĂn Insaurralde.
According to the journalist, the attempts to silence her were not limited to anonymous messages: âThatâs when I received two calls. One from a former member of the SIDE to intimidate me and another from a producer at Mandarina offering me money to not talk anymore.â
These revelations from Fernanda Iglesias coincide with the content of a program that explicitly denounces Cirio's actions. In the transcript, one of the voices states: âJessica Sirio offers money to journalists to not speak. I was offered money to not talk about Jessica Sirio anymore. But not directly from her, rather through an intermediary.â The journalist recounting the episode claims to have rejected the proposal: âI said no, look, the truth is no, I donât work that way, Iâm not interested.â
Furthermore, she details warnings of reprisals: âI spoke with a person who no longer likes her, used to like her, but no longer does, and they told me she will either send you to the headquarters or invent a case against you. Wow, magical solutions.â It also mentions sponsorship of programs with âstaggering sumsâ through her lingerie brands (Cocot and another), ironically referred to as âthe envelope of the pantiesâ: âShe distributes the envelope of the panties.â
This modus operandi described by Iglesias and the programâoffering money through intermediaries in the media, threats of fabricated legal cases, or interventions from former intelligence agentsâillustrates a systematic strategy of narrative control. Cirio, according to the allegations, does not act directly, but through third parties in the entertainment and production industry, creating a âmedia shieldâ that prevents deeper scrutiny into her financial situation and that of Insaurralde.
The judicial case for illicit enrichment and money laundering
These accusations of attempting to bribe journalists are part of a federal investigation for alleged illicit enrichment of a public official and money laundering that primarily involves MartĂn Insaurralde and Jesica Cirio. The case originated after the âYategateâ of 2023, when Insaurralde's luxurious trip to Marbella with model SofĂa Clerici was revealed, the cost of which far exceeded his declared income as mayor.
The Justice system, led by Judge Luis Armella and prosecutor Cecilia, is examining the inexplicable wealth growth of the former couple: high-value properties, luxury vehicles, and financial movements that do not align with public salaries. Recently, the release of videos in which Cirio records bundles of dollars in a dressing room of a shared property has revived the case. The prosecution suspects that those dollars belong to Insaurralde.
