Peruvian authorities reported the discovery of warehouses containing thousands of books, notebooks, equipment, and other educational resources that had been stored for several years without reaching the schools
The government of Peru's president, Keiko Fujimori, reported the discovery of several warehouses filled with educational materials that had been stored without distribution since 2018. During an inspection carried out by the Ministry of Education, authorities found thousands of textbooks, notebooks, technological equipment, school furniture, and machinery intended for the education system that never reached teaching centers.
As explained by the Executive, the materials remained for years in various state warehouses while numerous schools in the country continued to face infrastructure shortages and a lack of resources for the development of academic activities.

Keiko Fujimori's administration described the discovery as a demonstration of the administrative deficiencies accumulated during previous leftist governments and announced an investigation to determine the causes that prevented the delivery of the supplies.
The Ministry of Education indicated that among the items found were school texts corresponding to different educational levels, work notebooks, computers, printers, projectors, laboratory equipment, furniture, and other tools intended to strengthen the teaching process in public institutions.
After the discovery became known, President Keiko Fujimori ordered a comprehensive audit of the programs for the acquisition and distribution of educational materials executed since 2018. The objective will be to establish whether there were administrative negligence, planning failures, or possible irregularities that explain why the resources remained unused for so long.
The government also announced an immediate distribution plan to transfer the materials to schools that need them before the start of the next school year. Officials from the Ministry of Education indicated that a national schedule will be developed to prioritize regions with the greatest needs and ensure that the resources finally reach students and teachers.

In addition to the administrative investigation, authorities noted that, if possible criminal responsibilities or facts that may constitute crimes against public administration are detected during the audit, the findings will be sent to the Public Ministry to determine the eventual opening of judicial cases.
The government of Keiko Fujimori believes that the modernization of education is one of the main pillars of its management and asserts that the rapid distribution of materials will improve learning conditions in thousands of public establishments across the country, as well as optimize the use of goods that remained unutilized for several years.
