The Government of Javier Milei announced a private investment to produce influenza vaccines in Argentina, as part of an initiative involving the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the company CSL Seqirus.
The news was communicated by the Minister of Health, Mario Lugones, who highlighted the impact of this advancement on both the healthcare system and the national economy.
Through a message disseminated on the social network X, the official presented the initiative as part of a broader transformation.

“INVESTMENT TO PRODUCE INFLUENZA VACCINES IN ARGENTINA,” he stated at the beginning of the announcement, where he also noted: “More and more news is confirming this new stage: health is one of the engines of growth for the Argentine economy.”
The investment agreement, announced by PAHO along with CSL Seqirus, foresees the participation of the company Sinergium Biotech from Argentina in the production of vaccines intended for Latin America and the Caribbean. As Lugones explained, this integration not only positions the country within a regional value chain but also provides advantages in access to the doses.
“Based on an agreement announced by PAHO with CSL Seqirus, Sinergium Biotech will participate from Argentina in the production of influenza vaccines for Latin America and the Caribbean. Furthermore, this gives us, like the other participating countries, priority access to an initial allocation of doses,” the minister stated.

In his message, Lugones also focused on the strategic nature of the health industry and its potential to energize the economy. “Argentina being part of the vaccine production for the region means more national capacity in a strategic sector capable of attracting investments, incorporating innovation, and generating quality employment,” he affirmed.
The official also emphasized that this type of investment demonstrates the possibility of integrating the local industry into larger-scale projects. “It is a concrete example of how the local industry can integrate into regional-scale health solutions,” he indicated.
Finally, the head of the health portfolio underscored the capabilities that the country has to compete in this field and the direction that should be taken. “Argentina has technology, knowledge, and talent to compete in health; the path is to allow that capacity to develop and transform into real growth for the country,” he concluded.
