The Government of Javier Milei confirmed that Monday, November 9 will be a public holiday across the country due to the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Argentina, which will take place from Sunday, November 8 to Wednesday, November 11.
The decision was communicated after a meeting led by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, at the Ministry of Security, attended by national officials, representatives of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, and authorities from the jurisdictions that will be part of the papal route.

During the meeting, the president's intention to establish the national holiday for Monday, November 9 was conveyed, the day on which Leo XIV will lead one of the main activities of his visit: a mass scheduled for 11:30 in front of the Monument to the Spaniards in Palermo.
Additionally, a scheme of local holidays was established for Tuesday, November 10 in Córdoba and Wednesday, November 11 in the province of Buenos Aires, coinciding with the activities that the pontiff will carry out in both jurisdictions.
“The Pope is for all Argentinians,” stated the administration after the meeting and highlighted the joint participation of the different authorities involved in the organization. “It is not from a political party or a political color,” they added.

Leo XIV will arrive in the country on the afternoon of Sunday, November 8, coming from Uruguay. He is expected to land at 16:30 at Aeroparque, where the official reception will take place, before starting his agenda in the City of Buenos Aires.
The pontiff will visit the Monument to General San Martín and will later be received at the Casa Rosada, where he will meet with President Javier Milei. Later, he will participate in an event at the Palacio Libertad along with authorities, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of civil society.

On Monday, November 9, he will travel to Claypole to visit the Little Cottolengo Don Orione and will later lead the mass in Palermo. In the afternoon, he will hold a meeting related to the world of work at the Catholic University of Argentina.
The agenda will continue on Tuesday in Córdoba, where he will celebrate a mass in the esplanade of the Military Aviation School, while on Wednesday he will visit the province of Buenos Aires and lead a celebration at the Basilica of Our Lady of Luján.
