The Ministry of Health of the Nation, through the National Administration of Laboratories and Health Institutes “Dr. Carlos G. Malbrán” (ANLIS Malbrán), signed a framework agreement for institutional collaboration with Productos Roche S.A.Q.e.I. to advance in projects related to prevalent infectious diseases in Argentina.

The agreement establishes a space for coordination between the public and private sectors to promote knowledge generation, develop new scientific tools, and contribute to improving patient prevention and care. At the same time, the initiative aims to favor a more efficient use of available resources.

The Minister of Health of the Nation, Mario Lugones, highlighted the scope of the agreement and linked it to a strategy for strengthening cooperation between the State and companies.

As Lugones explained, the framework agreement “represents a further step in strengthening a public-private alliance in which the knowledge and scientific capacity of ANLIS Malbrán are put at the service of innovation and the development of health products.”

The official of the Government of Javier Milei also stated that the initiative responds to a vision that seeks to expand the impact of health activity on the economy. In this regard, he affirmed that “it is part of a vision that seeks for health to be a driver of development, investment, and growth for Argentina.”

New tools for detecting infectious diseases

One of the main objectives established in the agreement is to strengthen the country's capacity to detect and characterize infectious agents.

To this end, ANLIS Malbrán and Roche will seek to develop tools and scientific capacities aimed at detecting viruses and determining their resistance to antimicrobials. In addition, projects aimed at generating local evidence and integrated diagnostic solutions will be promoted.

The purpose of these initiatives will be to contribute to a more timely health response to infectious diseases and strengthen existing capacities in the health system.

The head of ANLIS Malbrán, Claudia Perandones, highlighted the scientific capabilities of the institution and its experience in carrying out this type of projects.

“The scientific-technological capabilities and the experience of Malbrán today allow us to promote this type of projects. The knowledge and tools developed will allow us to continue strengthening the health system and anticipate the challenges posed by infectious diseases,” she stated.

The agreement expressly states that the signing does not imply any consideration between the parties nor does it imply preferential treatment for Roche's products.

The agreement also does not create exclusivity. Both ANLIS Malbrán and Roche maintain the possibility of entering into similar agreements with third parties, according to the conditions established in the current regulations.

The agreement is part of an agenda promoted by the Milei Government to strengthen research, innovation, and the scientific-technological capabilities of the country, with greater coordination between the public and private sectors.
