Zlatan Ibrahimovic once again demonstrated his support for the Argentine National Team ahead of the semifinal of the 2026 World Cup against England. The former Swedish player, who is now commenting on the tournament for a U.S. network, did not hesitate to choose the Albiceleste as the favorite and launched a phrase that has already gone viral: the English are going to know the "Left Foot of God."

With this comment, Ibrahimovic drew a clear parallel to the historic quarterfinal match of the 1986 World Cup, where Diego Maradona scored two unforgettable goals against England, one with the famous Hand of God and another with the genius of his left foot. "England has already seen the Hand of God, now they will see the Left Foot of God," said the Swede, adding extra spice to the buildup of the match taking place in Atlanta.

Despite players and coaches trying to tone down the classic rivalry, the temperature keeps rising. Zlatan, known for his spicy statements, held nothing back and made it clear who he supports. His backing is not entirely surprising: between 2009 and 2011, he shared a team with Lionel Messi at Barcelona, where they forged a good relationship.

Constant support throughout the World Cup

Throughout the entire World Cup, Ibrahimovic has continuously expressed his admiration for Messi and the Argentine team. This time, his prediction highlights the expectation of a memorable performance from the Albiceleste captain, similar to the one Maradona had four decades ago.
