The elimination of Rosario Central by Corinthians ended with serious incidents at the Neo Química Arena in São Paulo. Following the Brazilian team's 1-0 victory, which allowed them to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2026 Copa Libertadores, clashes occurred between fans of both teams and security forces.

The only goal of the match was scored by Breno Bidon in the 34th minute of the second half. The result sealed Corinthians' qualification, but the celebration was quickly overshadowed by the episodes of violence that erupted once the match was over.

Disturbances between Corinthians and Rosario Central fans

The police operation had managed to keep supporters separated for much of the match. However, the operation lost effectiveness in the minutes following the final whistle, when tension between the factions increased.

According to reports, five Argentine fans and four Brazilian supporters were taken to judicial facilities located within the stadium as a result of the incidents.

According to the same report, the conflict reportedly began after members of the local fanbase passed near the section designated for Rosario Central supporters, who were still inside the stadium waiting for authorization to leave.

The exchange began with provocations and verbal clashes between both groups, but the tension escalated until it led to confrontations.

Military Police of São Paulo intervened

As the disturbances escalated, members of the Military Police of São Paulo intervened to try to control the situation. Images recorded in the stadium show officers chasing several individuals while other spectators sought to leave the area quickly.

The video also shows insults and aggression directed at the police officers, while part of the crowd attempted to distance themselves from the area where the incidents were concentrated.
