President Javier Milei swears in Diego Santilli as the new Chief of Cabinet this Tuesday, after having officially announced his appointment last Sunday. Santilli, who until now served as Minister of the Interior, replaces Manuel Adorni. Santilli's arrival at the head of the ministers has a strong internal consensus, backed by the trust of Karina Milei and his good rapport with advisor Santiago Caputo.
Under the watchful eye of his wife and children, the newly appointed official sealed his commitment to the administration by swearing on “God, the Fatherland, and the Holy Gospels”. The event reflected a climate of camaraderie and continuity, sealed with a hug between Javier Milei and the outgoing official, Manuel Adorni, who led an orderly transition after leaving office.
In a gesture of clear political purging, the Government decided to exclude the most recalcitrant faces of Kirchnerism from the invitations: Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires), Gildo Insfrán (Formosa), and Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja) were not part of the gathering.
The list of governors who chose the path of dialogue and sensibility included Jorge Macri (CABA), Martín Llaryora (Córdoba), Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza), Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos), Raúl Jalil (Catamarca), Leandro Zdero (Chaco), Juan Pablo Valdez (Corrientes), Carlos Sadir (Jujuy), Rolo Figueroa (Neuquén), Alberto Weretilneck (Río Negro), Marcelo Orrego (San Juan), Claudio Vidal (Santa Cruz), Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán), and Gustavo Sáenz (Salta). This federal consensus positions Santilli as a significant player in parliamentary articulation and the management of strategic agreements with the provinces.
Internally, the appointment of Diego Santilli enjoys total backing. Unlike his predecessors, he assumes with the absolute internal consensus granted by the trust of Karina Milei —Secretary General of the Presidency— and the excellent rapport with advisor Santiago Caputo, who identified him as the ideal man for the second half of the term. Caputo himself celebrated the appointment on social media, consolidating a team where political trust and operational effectiveness are the fundamental pillars.
