The City of Buenos Aires shared its database with the United States, and delinquent child support debtors will be prohibited from accessing stadiums during the World Cup. The measure aims to reinforce compliance with child support obligations.

Delinquent food debtors will not be able to enter the 2026 World Cup games either. The decision stems from an agreement between the City of Buenos Aires, the national government and the U.S. authorities to use information from the Public Registry of Delinquent Foods (RPAM) as a control tool during the World Cup to be held in the United States,

Mexico and Canada.

The measure expands a policy that has already been applied in the City of Buenos Aires since March 2025 and that prevents food debtors from entering football stadiums and mass entertainment.

In this way, those who fail to comply with the obligation to financially support their children could be left without access to the matches of the most important sporting event on the planet.

Jorge Macri: “If they don't comply with their children, they don't go on the court either”

The head of the Buenos Aires Government, Jorge Macri, welcomed the decision and highlighted the joint work with the national government to

expand controls.

“If they don't comply with their children, they don't go on the court either. In the City, we banned food debtors from entering stadiums and mass shows for more than a year. Now, working together with the national government, we are adding our database to the Safe Tribune program to reinforce those controls throughout the country and even during the World Cup,” he said.

In addition, he stressed that those who fail to comply with such a basic obligation must face concrete consequences.

“Those who do not fulfill such a basic obligation as feeding their children must have consequences,” he

said.

The database has already been sent to the United States

. The City made available to U.S. authorities the information corresponding to people registered as food debtors and also to those who have current restrictions on attending mass or sporting events

.

The exchange will make it possible to apply the right of international admission during the 2026 World Cup.

In this way, the authorities will be able to block those who appear in the corresponding records from entering the stadiums.

The initiative represents a new step in cooperation between national and international organizations to reinforce control mechanisms linked to the fulfillment of

family obligations.

More than 13,000 registered debtors

The City's Public Registry of Delinquent Foods currently has more than

13,000 people registered.

In addition, the database is strengthened through information exchange agreements with 13 Argentine provinces, giving it a federal dimension and significantly expanding its reach.

The Buenos Aires Minister of Justice, Gabino Tapia, supported the measure and stated that those who fail to fulfill their responsibilities should not access this type of benefit.

“Those who fail to comply with such a basic obligation as guaranteeing food for their children cannot enjoy a sports show or a recital,” he said.

He added: “It's great news that food debtors can't enter the World Cup games either: first they pay and get up to speed with their obligations.”

More than 200 operations and 180 violators detected

Since the implementation of controls in March 2025, the City carried out 203 operations in stadiums

and mass shows.

As a result, 180 food debtors were detected trying to enter different events.

The checks are carried out by scanning the national identity document and immediately verifying it in the RPAM database

.

With the addition of the registry to the national Tribuna Segura program, the authorities hope to increase the number of controls in the 18 football stadiums in the City of Buenos Aires and extend the scope of the measure to international events.

Argentina will defend the title without food debtors in the stands. The

2026 World Cup will begin on June 11 and will be hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada

.

The Argentine National Team, the current champion after the award in Qatar 2022, will debut on June 16 against Algeria in Kansas City. He will then face Austria and Jordan during the group stage

.

As millions of fans prepare their trip to accompany Lionel Scaloni's team, those who appear to be delinquent food debtors may encounter a surprise when trying to enter the stadiums: they must first catch up with their children.
