The federal prosecutor Eduardo Taiano is pushing for an investigation into alleged money laundering against María Soledad Calle, a leader linked to La Cámpora and the metalworkers' union, after the acquisition of an apartment located beneath the property where Cristina Kirchner is serving her six-year prison sentence for the Vialidad case came under judicial scrutiny.

The real estate transaction under investigation is around USD 190,000 and corresponds to the first floor of the building at San José 1111, in the City of Buenos Aires. The Justice system seeks to establish the origin of the funds and determine if there is a documented economic explanation behind the assets attributed to Calle.

The investigation is in the hands of federal judge Julián Ercolini and originated from a complaint regarding alleged fraud against the Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (UOM). From that file, Taiano aims to advance on the possible existence of money laundering maneuvers.

Among the elements under analysis are a BMW M135 xDrive valued at approximately USD 70,000, a Peugeot 3008, two properties in Zárate, and numerous trips made abroad.

Calle denied the accusations and rejected having purchased the apartment. "I didn't buy anything. It's a union and power dispute," she stated in response to a journalistic inquiry. She also claimed that she does not hold a position in the UOM and asserted that she was chosen as a target amid an internal dispute.

However, the leader is politically linked to Kirchnerism and serves as an alternate director of USEM, a company that received 0.5% of the contributions from UOM members, a union with around 200,000 members. This week, the union's intervenor suspended the contract with the company.

The Justice system is also analyzing a large number of Calle's trips to destinations such as Spain, Mexico, France, the United States, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. Some of these trips were related to union activities, although investigators seek to determine which had that character and which were personal.

According to the commercial information included in the case, Calle registers an estimated income range of between $4.36 million and $7.41 million and a debt of $16.6 million by July 2026, concentrated almost entirely in Banco Galicia.

In addition to her union activity, Calle has work history in public agencies in Buenos Aires and participation in companies related to investments, asset management, credit operations, and financial businesses.

The progress of the case will now seek to establish whether there is a correspondence between her declared income, the assets attributed to her, her financial movements, and the trips made abroad, while the Kirchnerist and Camporista leader maintains her rejection of the accusations.
