Kicillof admitted that K municipalities used the Educational Fund for political purposes before Milei's arrival

A video of Axel Kicillof has been circulating strongly on social media after a fragment of an interview conducted on the Infocielo Play streaming platform emerged, in which the Buenos Aires governor acknowledged that his mayors used resources from the Educational Fund to finance shows and different works for which they were assigned.

In the disseminated fragment, Kicillof referred to the previous functioning of the resources that the Province transfers to the municipalities and described some of the practices that occurred with those funds before the scrutiny prompted by Javier Milei.

“What happened before? The Educational Fund was often used by the mayors, it was money from the Province given to the municipalities to use in education, they used it to put on some kind of show, to pave,” the Kirchnerist governor asserted.

The Educational Fund is part of the transfer scheme that Buenos Aires municipalities receive and is linked to the financing of educational policies. For this reason, Kicillof's words allow us to confirm that the governor himself acknowledged the existence of these uses.

Another scandal in the Kicillof administration over the use of public funds

The viralization of the clip occurred just a day after another uncomfortable episode involving Axel Kicillof and Carlos Bianco during the reopening of the Juan Manuel Fangio Autodrome in Balcarce, where both were questioned about the funds allocated for the circuit's works.

The controversy arose over the $3.3 billion that the Province presented as the updated value of the investment, despite local media reporting that the funds originally allocated for the works had been considerably lower.

During the event, a journalist asked Kicillof about the difference between the actual figures and those stated in political speeches. The governor maintained that the mentioned amount corresponded to an update to "current values" and continued his speech without elaborating or providing transparency about the calculation he claims to use.

Seconds later, Carlos Bianco abruptly intervened, taking the journalist by the arm to try to explain the difference. The minister asserted that the $3.3 billion represented the updated value of four installments whose nominal amount was around $1.3 billion.

“This is a matter for accountants and economists,” Kicillof's right-hand man stated during the tense exchange. However, in response to the journalist's questions, he did not specify what index or updating mechanism the Province had used to reach the disseminated figure in their campaign speeches.
