The ultra-Kirchnerist governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, will travel on Tuesday, September 22, to New York, where he will have an agenda that includes meetings with investment funds and companies linked to the province.
Among the planned activities, the Buenos Aires governor will meet on Wednesday, September 23, with the New York mayor, the Muslim communist Zohran Mamdani, as part of a colloquium titled “Building an Economy for the Majority.”
The trip comes amid an unprecedented security crisis in the province of Buenos Aires, resulting from the disastrous management of Kicillof.

The activity with Mamdani may also include the participation of other international leaders, including the socialist president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez.
According to official information, during the meeting Kicillof will “analyze the development prospects of the country, the implications of increasing geopolitical tensions and economic fragmentation, and the responses of governments and political forces in Latin America to this new scenario.”
The meeting between Kicillof and Mamdani will be one of the points on the official agenda that the governor will carry out during his stay in New York. Buenos Aires taxpayers will bear the costs of the trip and, during his absence, the lieutenant governor Verónica Magario will be in charge of the Buenos Aires Executive Power.
Kicillof's visit will also include meetings with investment funds that hold bonds from the province of Buenos Aires. The governor will also hold meetings with representatives of companies that already have investments in Buenos Aires territory or are considering making new disbursements.

The contact with creditors will occur five years after the start of the process that led to the restructuring of the provincial debt under foreign legislation. Negotiations began on April 24, 2020, after the Province approached a default situation, while the exchange was settled on September 3, 2021.
The initial agreement was announced in July 2021 and was finalized with the Province's main creditor and other institutional investors, after more than a year of negotiations between the parties.
Meanwhile, Kicillof's agenda in New York will coincide with the presence of President Javier Milei in the United States, although the activities of both leaders will be separate. Milei is scheduled to participate in the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
