Lionel Messi received support from the football world after the death of his father

After participating in the final farewell to Jorge Messi in Rosario, Lionel Messi began his return to the United States. In that context, the footballer published an extensive message dedicated to his father, in which he publicly expressed the deep pain he is going through.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do without you, I don’t know how to go on,” wrote the forward. In one of the most moving passages of his letter, he even questioned his continuation in football: “I only played football and now I have quite a few doubts about whether I will keep doing it for much longer.”

Messi also lamented that his father could not stay with him a little longer: “You were by my side from the beginning, it was so close to the end. Why couldn’t you hold on just a little longer so we could finish together?.”

The Argentina National Team teammates supported Messi

The publication by the Argentine captain generated a huge amount of reactions and quickly messages of support from several members of the Argentina National Team appeared.

Leandro Paredes, one of his closest teammates, expressed his support through emojis, while Thiago Almada and Cristian “Cuti” Romero also left affectionate messages to support the Rosario native during this difficult time.

Ángel Di María, Messi's historic teammate during his journey with the Albiceleste, also joined in the expressions of affection.

Among the footballers who publicly expressed their support was also Giuliano Simeone, who shared his first World Cup experience with Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo also sent him a message

One of the reactions that caught the most attention was from Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese, a historic sporting rival of Messi for much of their careers, set aside the competition to send a message of support.

“A huge hug to you and yours in these tough times, Leo. Stay strong,” wrote Ronaldo.

The response from the Portuguese forward came just a few hours after Messi's publication and became one of the most notable expressions of solidarity received by the Argentine.

The message from David Beckham and other figures

David Beckham, owner of Inter Miami and a person close to Messi since his arrival in MLS, also supported the Argentine footballer.

“We are with you and your family, Leo. Always,” expressed the English legend.

Messages were also left by the president of the AFA, Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia; Paulo Dybala, world champion alongside Messi in Qatar 2022; Mariano Andújar and Javier Zanetti.

Additionally, Barcelona, one of the most important clubs in the Rosario native's career, published a message of support on their social media. The official account of the Olympic Games also supported the Argentine, recalling his historic gold medal won in Beijing 2008.
