The president Javier Milei stated that the Cuban regime is facing an imminent collapse and supported the pressure exerted by the administration of Donald Trump on the island.
He made this assertion during an interview on the podcast The Abundance Revolution, hosted by journalist Ismael Cala, where he also analyzed the situation in Venezuela and launched harsh criticisms against communism.
“Just as they ended the scourge of Venezuela, they will end the scourge of Cuba,” the president asserted, who even projected a scenario of intervention without resistance: when Trump enters the Caribbean country, he will be able to do so “walking.” In that vein, he emphasized: “Cuba is going to end up collapsing on its own.”
During the conversation, Milei highlighted the role of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whom he described as “extraordinary” and “out of the ordinary,” in the context of Washington's foreign policy towards the region.
The President based his analysis on the consequences stemming from the capture of the former narcoterrorist dictator Nicolás Maduro.

On January 3, 2026, a U.S. military operation resulted in the arrest of the then Venezuelan leader and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were transferred to New York to face charges of narcoterrorism.
Following that event, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez assumed the role of transitional leader and began negotiations with the U.S. administration.
According to Milei, this political shift directly impacted Cuba. “By prosecuting PDVSA, they took away Cuba's financing, which means Cuba can no longer be parasitizing Venezuela,” he explained. For the president, the loss of Venezuelan energy supply accelerated the internal crisis on the island, reflected in issues such as prolonged blackouts.
In that context, he deepened his ideological criticisms and labeled communism as “the highest expression of human arrogance.”
Moreover, he stated that “it was a failure economically, socially, culturally, and they also murdered one hundred fifty million human beings.”

Regarding those who defend that system from capitalist economies, he was categorical: “They are a bunch of frauds.” To close that argument, he quoted economist Thomas Sowell: “Since when did envy stop being a capital sin to become a virtue?.”

On the domestic front, the head of state reviewed the main indicators of his management. He noted that the inherited consolidated fiscal deficit reached 15 points of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), divided between five points from the National Treasury and ten from the Central Bank, and assured that it was eliminated during the first year of government.
He also referred to the evolution of inflation. He recalled that in December 2023, the retail index had reached 25% monthly and the wholesale index 54%, while it currently stands at an annual rate of between 25% and 30%. “Is the task finished? No, clearly not. The task is to exterminate it, but we are on the right track, there is no doubt,” he stated.
In social matters, Milei highlighted an improvement in the indicators. According to the data, poverty decreased from 57% to 28%, extreme poverty fell from 20% to 6%, and child poverty was reduced from 70% to 42%. “We lifted nearly fourteen million Argentines out of poverty,” he assured.
He also mentioned the recovery of economic activity. He indicated that the Monthly Economic Activity Estimator (EMAE) is currently 11% above the level recorded in December 2023.
Finally, the President referred to his political future and ruled out extending his stay in politics beyond a potential second term. “I either finish in 2027 or if the Argentines want, in 2031, but after 2031, you won't see me here anymore,” he concluded with laughter.
