The negotiations extended over several days and started with a loan proposal with an option to buy that Boca rejected. Atlas, managed by Hernán Crespo, insisted on the player and improved their offer after the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Sudamericana Cup against São Paulo. With the economic differences resolved, both parties finalized the transfer and the left-footer became the new reinforcement for the Guadalajara team.
