The evolution marks a continuity with previous months. In April, wages had increased by 3.7%, compared to an inflation rate of 2.8%. In May, the increase in remuneration was 2.2%, while prices rose by 2.1%. Finally, in June, wages advanced by 2.9% against an inflation rate of 1.9%.

The June result was driven by increases in the various segments surveyed by the statistical agency. The registered private sector had a monthly increase of 1.9%, the public sector increased by 3.4%, and the unregistered private sector recorded the largest increase, with a 4.4% improvement.

Wages accumulate an increase of 18.5% in the first half

The general wage index accumulated an increase of 18.5% during the first half of 2026 compared to December 2025. In year-on-year terms, the increase reached 35.7%. In both cases, the growth exceeds inflation by several points in the same period.

The accumulated evolution also showed differences among the various sectors. The June data also reflects a particularly marked improvement in the unregistered private sector, whose wages increased by 4.4% during the month. In the year-on-year comparison, this segment recorded an increase of 59.5%.

For its part, the registered sector showed a monthly increase of 2.4%, a year-on-year variation of 29.7%, and an accumulated increase of 15.5%, according to the provided data.

Three consecutive months of real growth

The sequence of the last three months shows a favorable trend for the purchasing power of wages. In April, May, and June, remuneration recorded increases above the inflation rate for each period.

The most significant difference occurred in June, when wages grew by 2.9% and prices advanced by 1.9%. This result allowed incomes to accumulate a new improvement in real terms.

The continuity of this trend occurs in a context of deceleration of inflation, one of the main economic objectives set by the Government of Javier Milei.

With a monthly inflation rate of 1.9% during June, the increase in wages managed to surpass the rise in prices for the third consecutive month.
