Seven Kirchnerist criminals, aged between 20 and 26, were arrested this Saturday accused of being part of a gang that committed snatch thefts during the "March of Anger", called by the left, in the area of Plaza de Mayo, in downtown Buenos Aires.
The operation began while a mobilization was taking place between the National Congress and Plaza de Mayo and allowed for the seizure of cell phones, a gold chain, and the vehicle in which part of the group was traveling.
The investigation started from the work of the operators at the Urban Monitoring Center (CMU). Through security cameras, agents detected a group of men taking advantage of the concentration of people to steal belongings from other Kirchnerists at the mobilization.
The detainees
The operators initiated real-time surveillance and found that the suspects had separated into different points in downtown Buenos Aires. Two of them were located near the Metrobus 9 de Julio dock, at the height of Alsina, while five others were trying to leave the area in a Peugeot on Lima Street, at the height of Rivadavia Avenue.
With the physical descriptions and location provided by the Monitoring Center, members of the City Police deployed an operation to intercept them.
The operation led to the arrest of five of the accused while they were inside the vehicle, at Lima 80. The other two were located shortly after at Bernardo de Irigoyen 80, where they were also arrested.
During the searches, the police seized six cell phones, a gold chain, a vehicle key, and the Peugeot used by part of the group. The seven suspects reside in the province of Buenos Aires.
The detainees
Background and arrest warrant
Subsequent identification established that two of the detainees had criminal records. One of them, aged 23, had charges for concealment and theft from two incidents that occurred in November 2023.
Additionally, another suspect, aged 20, had an active arrest warrant for aggravated robbery involving the use of a firearm.
The case is in the hands of the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 7, presided over by Mariano Amaduri, who ordered that the seven accused remain in custody.
Another arrest in Villa Lugano
Meanwhile, on the same day, another operation by the City Police resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man in Villa Lugano, who had an international arrest warrant for a case of severely humiliating repeated sexual abuse and aggravated corruption of minors.
The operation began around 8:20 AM, following a report of several people trying to open a Chevrolet Aveo parked on the street. Upon arrival, the officers determined that it was not an attempted theft: the owner had left the keys inside the vehicle and was trying to open it with a wire along with others.
However, upon identifying those present, the police discovered that one of them had an active arrest warrant since September 11. The man was wanted by the Justice of the Judicial Department of La Matanza.
