The First C experienced a truly shocking moment this past weekend. The 1-1 draw between Deportivo Español and Luján was completely overshadowed by one of the most shocking injuries of the season in Argentine football. Omar Pires, one of the team's figures, suffered severe damage to his left knee that will sideline him from the courts for a long

period.

The action occurred in the middle of the game, when the offensive steering wheel went to contest a ball and fell with all the weight of his body on his left leg. Immediately, he was left lying on the playing field, causing concern among teammates and rivals. The images already anticipated a serious condition, which was later confirmed by medical studies

.

The diagnosis was overwhelming: rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, patellar tendon and external meniscus, as well as an injury to the hamstring muscle. A rare and extremely complex combination that will force the soccer player to go through the operating room

The estimated recovery time ranges from nine to twelve months, so Pires could only return to play in 2027. This is a very sensitive loss for Deportivo Español, since the midfielder had been consolidating himself

as an important player.

After learning about the seriousness of the injury, the club expressed its support for the player: “From the club we want to accompany Omar Pires at this time. After the studies carried out, an injury was confirmed to his left knee, for which he will undergo surgery in the next few hours. Spanish is with you, Omar.”

The impact of the news was also felt in the Ascenso environment, where colleagues and soccer players sent him messages of support in the face of the hard recovery process he will have to face.
