Spain is witnessing a new and bloody display of uncontrolled immigration that is ravaging Europe. The events, which have shocked the Biscayan capital, unfolded last Friday afternoon in an environment that should be safe: a public elevator connecting plaza de la Encarnación, in the Atxuri area, with the neighborhood of Santutxu.

The nightmare began when a young Maghrebian, already known to the security forces for his criminal record and history of violence, entered the elevator carrying a loudspeaker. In response to the woman's logical request to lower the volume, the individual's reply was a display of hatred and radical cultural machismo, responding: "You are a woman, you cannot give me orders".

The assault, marked by intense physicality, moved from inside the elevator to the public street, specifically to Zabalbide street. The attacker showed no mercy: he pushed the elderly woman with such violence that it caused her a clavicle fracture upon hitting the ground, a serious injury that will require imminent surgical intervention.

Not stopping there, the aggressor turned on the husband, who tried to defend his wife, subjecting him to a chokehold while pressing on his neck. During the struggle, the criminal managed to hit him in the face and deliver a bite that caused a bleeding wound on his arm.

In an act of absolute cruelty aimed at ensuring the helplessness of his victims, the subject snatched the cell phone from the woman as she attempted to call for help and threw it into an open area.

It was the timely intervention of neighbors that allowed emergency services to be alerted, who found both elderly individuals injured on the ground with evident signs of violence before urgently transporting them to Basurto hospital, where they were admitted.

Despite the severity of the attack and the fact that the individual is a repeat immigrant offender who had already been involved in another violent assault weeks earlier, the judicial system—weakened by years of permissive policies—decreed his provisional release with charges on the same day of his arrest by the Ertzaintza.

This new episode of public insecurity highlights the resounding failure of a coexistence model imposed by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, where recidivism has no real consequences and law-abiding citizens end up paying with their blood the price of an ideology that refuses to acknowledge the danger posed by illegal and violent immigration.
