In the middle of a live broadcast during the 2026 World Cup, streamer Ibai Llanos lost his mind and sparked a strong controversy by questioning the legitimacy of the title won by the Argentine National Team in Qatar 2022.
During a chat with Argentine streamer La Cobra, the Spanish content creator raved that this championship should not be counted as a valid World Cup and claimed that, in his view, Argentina only has two world titles.
To justify his nonsensical opinion, Ibai argued that the tournament was held under exceptional conditions, different from any other edition of the World Cup.
He also pointed out that Qatar 2022 broke with the historical tradition of the event by taking place between November and December, a change necessitated by the high summer temperatures in the Middle East, which make competition unfeasible during the usual months of June and July.
He also questioned that a large part of the stadiums were built specifically for the tournament and considered that the host country lacked a solid footballing tradition.
Ibai's absurd statements did not end there. During the conversation, he also claimed that the Argentine National Team would supposedly have struggled against Spain if a Finalissima had been held between both continental champions.
According to his delusion and complete lack of football knowledge, the team led by Lionel Scaloni would have faced serious difficulties competing against the Spanish national team and even joked that Argentina's only chance would have been to hold out for a draw and decide the qualification through penalties, relying on the interventions of goalkeeper Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez.
