Steam has activated a free weekend for GreedFall: The Dying World.
From there, an adventure centered on the journey home begins, featuring exploration, narrative choices, companions, and classic elements of Western RPGs.
Although many players praised its setting, lore, and role-playing possibilities, the title received mixed reviews on both Steam and Metacritic.
Steam has activated a new free weekend promotion that allows you to download and play GreedFall: The Dying World at no cost, one of the most recent fantasy RPGs in the catalog.
The trial will be available until Saturday, May 17 at 14:00 Argentina time. Additionally, the game is available at a 30% discount for a limited time for those who want to purchase it after trying it out.
Unlike the “Free to Keep” promotions, where the game remains in your library forever, this is a Free Weekend.
This means that GreedFall: The Dying World can only be played for free until the promotion ends. Once the free period is over, you will need to purchase it to continue playing.
The offer also includes a special discount valid until May 27, bringing the price of the RPG down to about 35 dollars.
GreedFall: The Dying World, also known as GreedFall 2, serves as a prequel to the original game released years ago.
The story takes place before the events of the first title and puts the player in the shoes of a resident of Teer Fradee, who is kidnapped and taken to the so-called Old Continent.
It currently holds an average score of around 63 on Metacritic and about 62% positive reviews on Steam.
Among the most criticized points are the combat, technical performance, and some gameplay issues. However, several users emphasize that it maintains the spirit of classic RPGs inspired by the old school of BioWare.
The release of GreedFall: The Dying World was also marked by the closure of Spiders, the studio responsible for the game.
The developer had also worked on titles such as SteelRising, The Technomancer, and Bound By Flame.
Shortly after the full release of the RPG in March 2026, the publisher Nacon decided to liquidate the studio, bringing an end to an important chapter within the fantasy RPG niche.
The free promotion on Steam will end on May 17 at 14:00 Argentina time. Until then, any user can download the game from the platform and try it at no cost.
