The warm phase of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation event, classified as "Super Niño," has activated alert schemes throughout the province of Córdoba. Official forecasts predict the arrival of severe storms with rainfall records exceeding 100 mm and hail across the region. In light of this scenario, a permanent monitoring system has been established through 400 local weather stations that update data every 10 minutes.
The National Meteorological Service and the World Meteorological Organization, along with the local technical observatory, have issued combined reports. The entities confirm a 100% probability that the phenomenon will remain active during the spring and extend until February 2027. Analysis models agree that the manifestation of the event will reach its peak intensity towards the end of the current year.
Although the highest volume of water will affect Mesopotamia and the Litoral, notable thermal variations will be recorded in Córdoba. Atmospheric conditions will drive fronts capable of delivering intense precipitation in short bursts, increasing flooding and sudden rises in water levels. The marked instability in the air will enhance the formation of local cells with a high probability of generating strong hailstorms in the area.
