The defeat of Egypt against the Argentine National Team in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup continues to have repercussions off the field. This time, the one who spoke out publicly was Yara Hossam Hassan, daughter of coach Hossam Hassan, through a series of posts on her social media.

Usually active in support of the coaching staff led by her father and her uncle Ibrahim Hassan, assistant to the Egyptian national team, the young woman expressed her discontent following the elimination of the African team.

One of the first posts shared by Yara was a meme that mocked the performance of French referee François Letexier, who officiated the match between Argentina and Egypt.

The image, initially shared by an account dedicated to football humor, showed the referee wearing an Argentine National Team jersey with the caption in English "Argentina's man of the match", in a clear criticism that suggested alleged referee favoritism towards the team led by Lionel Scaloni.

The posts continued hours later with the sharing of an Instagram story in which Yara shared a quote attributed to her father, with a strong political content and far from strictly sports analysis.

The message expressed: "In some countries, there are children dying while wearing jerseys of Argentina, Barcelona, Messi, and Real Madrid. Those children love you and love football, but they are being killed while you remain silent, as if nothing is happening."

The post quickly began to circulate on social media and generated various reactions among users, amplifying the impact left by Egypt's elimination from the 2026 World Cup.
