Two months after taking over, Ogro Fabbiani terminated his contract with Vardar of North Macedonia

Cristian Fabbiani has put an end to his first experience as a coach in Europe. The Ogre decided to terminate his contract with Vardar from North Macedonia just two months after taking over and will return to Argentina after leading the team in the qualifying phases of European competitions and at the start of the local tournament.

Fabbiani himself confirmed the decision through his social media and explained that he had chosen to interrupt his cycle about 20 days ago. "Twenty days ago, I made the decision to terminate and go back home, after a great participation in the pre-Champions", he wrote.

The coach, who arrived in May at the reigning Macedonian champion, also expressed satisfaction with the experience despite its short duration. "I leave happy and grateful for everything I experienced", he stated, before highlighting another of his objectives achieved during his stay in Europe: "Proud to have obtained both licenses: CONMEBOL PRO and UEFA PRO".

Fabbiani's first major challenge was the Champions League. There, Vardar faced KuPS from Finland in the first qualifying round. In the first leg, they lost 2-0 at home, while in the return leg, although they managed to win 3-2 in extra time, they were eliminated on aggregate score (4-3).

The elimination did not immediately end the international participation of the Skopje team, which continued its journey in the qualifying phase of the Conference League. There, Vardar was eliminated by Riga after losing 3-2 in the first leg and then 5-2 in extra time of the return leg.

In total, Fabbiani managed 6 matches during his brief tenure and achieved 2 victories and 4 defeats across international competitions and the First Division of North Macedonia, where he began the team's title defense.

The experience marked the first step of the former striker outside Argentine football as a coach, after his stints at Fénix, Deportivo Riestra, Deportivo Merlo, and Newell's. Now, after his return to the country, he will need to define what the next challenge will be in a career that has just added its first chapter in Europe.

"Let's keep growing and now we're going for more", Fabbiani concluded in his farewell message, without yet revealing what his next professional destination will be.
