A scene that seemed straight out of an action movie ended with an unexpectedly favorable outcome in football in Thailand. Andros Townsend, a 35-year-old experienced English footballer, was hit by a road roller while exercising on the pitch and, despite the strong impact, managed to escape serious injury.
The incident occurred during the match between PT Prachuap and Pattani FC at the Tinsulanon Stadium. The former player of Tottenham, Newcastle, and Everton, among other Premier League teams, was with his teammates in an area near the touchline when, while moving backward during one of the drills, he ended up in the path of the machinery used to work on the grass.
The operator failed to stop the vehicle in time, and the roller struck the forward's legs, rolling over his lower limbs and temporarily trapping him. The situation caused scenes of desperation among the local team's players, who quickly rushed to assist him.
