A viral video that circulates on social networks shows the devastating impact of a severe storm that hit the Buenos Aires Atlantic coast, particularly in the Pinamar Norte resort, in the Florentino Ameghino area. The owner, upon returning to his apartment, recorded with his cell phone a scene of chaos and destruction that no one expected: broken glass, displaced furniture, accumulated water on the floor and widespread damage caused by strong winds
and heavy rain.
The images show how the apartment's living room was completely affected. A large window or window broke, allowing rain and wind to enter, which scattered cushions, furniture and objects. The wooden floor looks flooded, with visible puddles and remnants of glass.
Outside, fallen trees and damage to the common structures of the complex can be seen. The man narrates with surprise: “The window fell... look how it is”, as he walks through the rooms showing the fallen TV, unarmed armchairs and shattered
curtains.
The storm of May 6 and 7, 2026 hit the region hard. According to reports, there were intense winds (with gusts exceeding 50-100 km/h in coastal areas), abundant rainfall and, in some places, hail. In Pinamar Norte, one of the most affected areas, dozens of trees fell, flooded streets and damaged homes and public spaces. Municipal teams, firefighters and Civil Defense worked hard to clear roads and assist neighbors. No serious injuries were reported, but significant material losses
were reported.
This event is part of a larger storm system that affected much of the province of Buenos Aires, with alerts from the National Weather Service (SMN) for strong storms, winds and possible hail. The combination of a cold front and unstable conditions generated this destructive scenario on the
Atlantic Coast.
Forecast for the weekend
According to updated weather data, bad weather will continue to play a role during the weekend. Temperatures between 8°C and 15°C are expected on Friday, May 8, with a chance of moderate rain. Saturday 9th would look more unstable, with highs around 12°C, lows of 8°C and strong winds (gusts of up to 60-70 km/h), with chances of
precipitation greater than 70-80% at times.
Sunday 10th would improve slightly, with temperatures between 7°C and 13°C and a lower chance of rain, although southerly winds would persist. The authorities recommend that residents and tourists in the coastal area take extreme precautions, ensure loose elements and avoid driving through areas with trees
or damaged structures.
Cases such as the viral video serve as a reminder of the vulnerability of buildings to increasingly intense weather phenomena. Residents of Pinamar and other Atlantic towns report similar damage, and recovery efforts will continue in the
coming days.
This type of event underlines the importance of preventing and maintaining infrastructure in exposed areas. Meanwhile, those affected, like the protagonist of the video, begin the arduous task of cleaning and repairing to return to normal
