The closing of the transfer market has once again put River in front of a pending decision regarding one of the players who was left out of the squad. Matías Galarza Fonda has not yet found a new destination, but in recent hours, two concrete alternatives have emerged that could take him out of Núñez: Estudiantes de La Plata and Inter Miami.
The Paraguayan midfielder has attracted various interests after his great performance with the Paraguay National Team in the 2026 World Cup, and with the closing of several international markets, his chances of leaving have progressively diminished.
Now, both Pincha and the American team have moved forward for the player and are negotiating with River under similar terms: a loan accompanied by an option or an obligation to buy. From Núñez, they are looking to definitively part ways with the player and want the future acquisition to be mandatory as a condition to accept the deal.

Weeks ago, Estudiantes had already shown interest in Galarza Fonda, although at that time the discussions stalled because the Millionaire prioritized a sale and had set a figure that the La Plata club was not willing to meet. The possibility of a loan allowed the interest to resurface.
The negotiation also has a contractual component: according to reports, Pincha has reached a preliminary agreement with the player and now must resolve the terms of the deal with the Núñez institution. The proposal would include a loan with an option to buy, which could become mandatory if the midfielder meets certain sporting objectives.
