The National Government banned the presence of graffiti and symbols of criminal gangs inside the country's prisons, as part of a new internal control regulation.

The measure prevents inmates from painting or displaying logos that identify criminal organizations in wards, cells and other areas of prisons.

According to the authorities, these elements were not simple expressions, but rather mechanisms used by criminal groups to mark territory and demonstrate power within the centers.

The regulations also establish the obligation to keep spaces clean, tidy and free of any marks linked to criminal gangs

.

With this provision, the Government seeks to weaken the internal structure of these organizations and reduce their capacity for control within the prison system.

The measure is part of a broader strategy to regain control of prisons and curb the influence of organized crime in these spaces.
