The Fraud Elimination Task Force, led by Vice President JD Vance, is moving full steam ahead with a series of measures aimed at combating irregularities in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
In this way, and in coordination with the Department of Justice, the Trump administration deployed various actions to eradicate illegal maneuvers in this food assistance program. The operations allowed for the dismantling of fraud networks in Minnesota and Puerto Rico that, according to investigations, had the complicity of the local Democratic Party.
"Every day, the Trump administration exposes more fraud. The anti-fraud task force led by Vice President Vance works around the clock to ensure that your tax dollars are used to serve American families, not scammers," the spokesperson for Vance's team assured Breitbart News.

Frauds continue to be uncovered in Minnesota
On April 16, agents from the U.S. Department of Agriculture executed search warrants at 20 retail stores authorized by the SNAP program in Minnesota, under suspicion of illegal trafficking of food assistance benefits.
"Fraudulent SNAP retailers are stealing from victims that include children who depend on federal nutritional assistance, and dishonor the charity of American taxpayers who fund this aid," stated the inspector general of the Agriculture Department, John Walk, at the time of the raid.
Walk himself provided details of another case of fraud detected in Puerto Rico, where $150 million in social plans were issued to individuals who had already passed away between 2017 and 2024. These funds were managed by the Department of Agriculture through a program equivalent to the U.S. SNAP system.

The first arrests and charges announced
For its part, the Trump Department of Justice has already criminally prosecuted those accused of being part of this fraud network. On April 20, the federal prosecutor's office in Ohio announced the indictment of five men—all of Romanian nationality—who conspired to steal nearly one million dollars in social benefits.
Additionally, on May 7, federal prosecutors in Rhode Island formally charged Felipe Almonte Polanco, a criminal with a prior record, for receiving SNAP benefits using stolen identities between 2021 and 2026.
During the Trump cabinet meeting held today at the White House, Vance emphasized that "fraud is not a victimless crime". In that sense, the vice president noted: "The central focus of this anti-fraud task force so far has been, in fact, to protect two types of victims here: we are protecting American taxpayers, from whom scammers should not be stealing their money."
