Mamdani did not rule out forcing New Yorkers to pay cash reparations for slavery: "We were complicit"

The communist mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, did not rule out the possibility that his government would use taxpayer money to pay cash reparations to the descendants of slaves living in the Big Apple if a municipal commission currently reviewing the matter decides in favor of it.

The Ugandan politician sent a letter to a group studying the issue that was later read on a podcast. "New York City actively participated in the slave trade and promoted its legacy through institutions, policies, and racist laws. The city must reconcile and repair this legacy of slavery, stolen wealth, and discrimination," part of the document states.

"If a commission studying reparations in this city recommended cash reparations for those affected by slavery in New York City, would you support that recommendation?" the Muslim government leader was asked. Mamdani responded that New Yorkers "were very complicit" regarding slavery and indicated that he "looks forward" to the results of the investigation.

A delusion that is spreading

This delusion of reparations for Afro-descendants due to slavery, promoted by Democratic Party politicians, is spreading to other American cities; thus, in Evanston, Illinois, it became the first city to issue reparations to its Black residents.

"The city has already distributed more than 7 million dollars —using revenue from a local tax on the legal sale of marijuana— to hundreds of people in increments of 25,000 dollars to be used for housing repairs, down payments on properties, and interest or penalties for late payments on properties within the city," local media reported on this measure.

Fortunately, Trump is in the White House and his Department of Justice joined other residents of the city to block in court the payments demanded by this program, arguing that it is a discriminatory practice.
