Karoline Leavitt, one of the best presidential spokespeople in history, announced yesterday that she will stop being a government official at the end of August to spend more time with her family and will take on the role of key advisor to Trump. Speculation about who her successor will be has already begun.

Leavitt, 28, defended Trumpist policies with precision and conviction. The New Hampshire native did her job so well that many thought she could stay on throughout the second term of the Republican leader. A source told the New York Post that the president has not yet decided on her replacement.

The main candidates to succeed Leavitt are Alina Habba, former acting federal prosecutor of New Jersey, and Matthew Boyle, head of the Breitbart media office in Washington. Habba is a well-known lawyer and staunch defender of the president, while Boyle is a reporter who has interviewed Trump many times and is known for his strong and combative presence.

Another name currently circulating is Taylor Budowich, former deputy chief of communications and staff at the White House who is currently in the private sector, and some are daring to nominate the current White House communications director, Steven Cheung, who already holds several roles within the government.

Habba defended Trump in several cases when he was pursued by the Biden administration.

Intense speculation also surrounds Katie Miller, former advisor to Elon Musk at the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and wife of chief of staff Stephen Miller, as well as the principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly and protocol chief Monica Crowley, a trusted person of Trump.

In betting markets, the names of presidential advisor Jason Miller, Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy —wife of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy— and former Los Angeles mayoral candidate, the media figure Spencer Pratt, are being mentioned. Campos-Duffy and Pratt are said to be unexpected candidates.

With less momentum, the names of journalist Scott Jennings and former Arizona gubernatorial candidate and Trump official Kari Lake appear as aspirants for the position. For now, Trump has decided that his senior officials will hold press conferences less frequently. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent have already taken on this role previously.
