The President of the United States, Donald Trump, referred to the political situation in Venezuela and the possibility of future elections during an exchange in the Oval Office with journalist and director of La Derecha Diario, Javier Negre.

In his statements, the president noted that the electoral process does not yet have a defined date, although he highlighted progress in the country.

The inquiry arose when Negre asked: “The people of Venezuela are very happy with you, with Secretary Marco Rubio, with Secretary Wright. When will there be elections? Do you have a date in mind?” The question reflected the expectation surrounding Venezuela's institutional development and the role of the United States in that scenario.

In response, Trump said: “They are not ready for them yet, but great progress has been made. Delcy is doing a fantastic job. At some point, they will be ready, and we will be on top of that. Venezuela is a great country with great people.”

Thus, the president, while avoiding setting a concrete deadline, emphasized a positive evolution in the situation of the country under the control of the United States and the reforms made by the interim regime.

In his statements, Trump also referenced his historical connection with Venezuela, mentioning his experience in international pageants. “I have known them for a long time, you know, I own the Miss Universe pageant and Miss Venezuela always does a good job,” he expressed, highlighting a previous relationship with the country.

He also stated that his image in Venezuela is very positive and linked that support to an ongoing economic recovery. “I am very popular in Venezuela, we are bringing a huge economy back to the country. They were absolutely dying, and now they are becoming extremely successful,” he affirmed.

The president's statements come in a context of international attention on Venezuela's political future, with expectations focused on the possibility of holding free elections and the evolution of the economic situation.

In this framework, Trump insisted that, although the conditions for an immediate electoral process are not yet in place, the recorded advances are encouraging to achieve it.
