A woman accused Graham Platner, the Democratic Senate candidate known for having a Nazi tattoo, of rape

This Monday, another sexual scandal involving Graham Platner, the far-left Democratic candidate for the Senate from the state of Maine known for openly declaring himself a Nazi a few years ago, erupted. In response to this accusation, the candidate abruptly canceled multiple campaign events.

The outlet Politico revealed that a woman who dated Platner —who is known for having a tattoo on his chest resembling the Totenkopf, the Nazi skull used by the SS— stated that he had raped her a few years ago. "I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being very forceful with me,” recounted Jenny Racicot, 41. "I remember the specific moment when I thought to myself: 'This is no longer my choice'."

Racicot had previously said that Platner's behavior was "disturbing" and "reckless," but detailed a series of much more serious behaviors in the recent interview. In late 2021, the woman reported that one night Platner entered her home uninvited in a rural area of Maine and forced himself on her while she repeatedly told him to stop.

Calls for Platner's resignation grow

Platner denied the accusations. "These accusations are concerning, serious, and false. Any allegation of non-consensual behavior is categorically false," stated the pro-Nazi Democrat in a video posted on his social media.

Although the far-left candidate, supported by Senator Bernie Sanders, said he would not withdraw from the race, there is tremendous pressure within his party for him to drop out of the contest, with these latest accusations likely to bury his short political career.

Platner won the Democratic primaries in Maine last month and was set to face off in the November midterm elections against veteran Republican Senator Susan Collins, who has held the Senate seat for 26 years. Democrats have until next Monday to replace him as a candidate.
