After the 1-0 loss to Barcelona de Guayaquil on the road for the fourth round of Group D of the Copa Libertadores, Boca received encouraging news. After carrying out studies back in Buenos Aires, it was finally confirmed that Leandro Brey did not suffer any serious injuries after his hard blow in the first minutes of the

match.

The episode occurred 22 minutes into the first half, when the 23-year-old collided with Byron Castillo in the area and, as a result of the forceful impact, he had to leave the field on a stretcher and be replaced by Javier García, setting off alarms in the coaching staff and among the fans.

However, as the hours went by, the pain decreased and the tests ended up bringing peace of mind: it was a trauma that resulted in a significant contracture, but without major complications. After the game, Brey received immediate care with medication and massages in the affected area before undergoing more exhaustive studies, which ruled out

any structural injuries.

The confirmation is key for the team led by Claudio Úbeda, which is going through a decisive stretch of the season. In the coming days, Boca will face the round of 16 of the Apertura Tournament against Huracán and will define its classification for the next round in the Libertadores against Cruzeiro and Universidad Católica, so losing the goalkeeper would have represented a significant loss, especially in the absence of Agustín Marchesín.

Although his presence on the weekend is not yet assured, the club is optimistic about his recovery. Everything will depend on his evolution in the coming days and, if he did not arrive in good condition, Javi García would return to the goal, as happened in Ecuador

.

For now, Brey will continue to be under medical supervision, although the favorable diagnosis allows Boca to regain calm at a key moment in the calendar.
