The Garrahan Hospital responded to the lies spread by the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires and revealed that it is false that the administration of the ultra Kirchnerist Axel Kicillof has settled its debt with the institution.
Through a statement, the health center affirmed that the current debt exceeds $8.278 billion and continues to rise.
According to the document, on June 2, the Province publicly communicated that it had regularized all pending payments and that “there are no unpaid obligations.” However, the hospital rejected that version and stated categorically: “That is false.”
The statement from Garrahan Hospital
According to the provided data, the real debt of IOMA, the provincial health insurance, amounts to $8,278,254,990.97. They also emphasized that the amount increases daily based on the services that the hospital continues to provide to referred patients.
The statement also questioned the nature of the payments made by the provincial administration. In this regard, they explained that the approximately $1.230 billion recently paid do not constitute a total settlement, but rather “partial payments on account of overdue debt,” which will also “first be applied to cover interest.”
Beyond the amount, Garrahan Hospital warned about a series of concerning practices by Kicillof's Kirchnerist administration.
Among them, they denounced that the provincial government denies a debt that is “properly documented and supported,” while attempting to reduce the values of services related to high-complexity care.
Axel Kicillof
The text also raises questions about the treatment of patients. According to the hospital, the Province argues that these are cases from 2010, when in reality they involve 44,447 children treated since 2017.
All of them are members of the provincial health insurance who turn to Garrahan due to the lack of capacity of the Buenos Aires health system to meet these demands.
Furthermore, the statement notes that the provincial government “refuses to cover the expenses of parents who must accompany their children while they are hospitalized,” disregarding the pediatric nature of the hospital. This is compounded by the refusal to timely cover necessary medications and prosthetics for treatments.
In this context, Garrahan Hospital warned that the financial situation resulting from non-compliance directly impacts its operation.
“The non-compliance of the Province of Buenos Aires, besides showing a profound ignorance of what a high-complexity hospital requires, jeopardizes the institution's operability and the health of the children, especially those without coverage,” the document states.
Finally, the institution made a direct appeal to the provincial governor to stop lying and take responsibility for his debt: “We ask Governor Kicillof to stop looking the other way and urgently pay the real debt.”
