Reports of a supposed resignation letter from the leader rekindle doubts about the real power of civil institutions in Iran.

Despite the denial, the rumors of a possible resignation have fueled the debate about the true distribution of power in Iran. Although the president is elected by popular vote, many analysts agree that the main decisions related to national security, foreign policy, and strategic matters are made by the supreme terrorist leader and by bodies such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.

The president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, is at the center of a growing political controversy following reports that he may have submitted his resignation to the country's supreme terrorist leader, Mojtaba Jamenei, amid internal tensions caused by the regional war and the increasing prominence of military sectors within the regime.

The version was published by the opposition outlet ''Iran International'', which cited an informed source stating that Pezeshkian had sent a resignation letter in which he warned about the loss of influence of his government in the country's strategic decisions.

According to the report, the president stated that since the beginning of the war with the United States and Israel in February, his administration has been sidelined from the main decision-making centers and that effective control of the state has passed into the hands of the commanders of the Revolutionary Guard.

If confirmed, the resignation would constitute one of the most significant political events in Iran in recent years and would highlight the existing tensions within the power structure of the Islamic Republic. The content of the letter describes a situation in which civil institutions have been relegated in favor of military and security agencies, which have gained even greater influence since the onset of the regional conflict.

Multiple reports claim that the president of the Iranian regime has submitted his resignation after being sidelined from decision-making.

The official response was swift. Mehdi Tabatabaei, deputy communications director of the presidential office, categorically rejected the reports and labeled the rumors as false. In a message posted on the social network X, he assured that Pezeshkian continues to perform his duties normally and maintains his commitment to the country.

''The president will not back down in his service to the Iranian people,'' stated the official, who also accused certain foreign media of promoting campaigns aimed at sowing internal divisions and weakening national unity at a time of great uncertainty.

The media apparatus of Jamenei's regime has denied the reports despite the rising tensions among various areas of the government.

The controversy arises in a particularly delicate context. Since late February, Iran has faced a regional crisis following attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iranian strategic military facilities. Tehran responded with military operations directed against Israel and U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf, in addition to ordering the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil trade.

Although a ceasefire mediated by Pakistan came into effect on April 8, subsequent attempts to reach a permanent diplomatic solution have not yielded concrete results. Negotiations continue as military and political tensions in the region persist.

Meanwhile, the Iranian economy continues to face difficulties stemming from international sanctions, inflation, and the depreciation of the national currency. These problems have increased social unrest and generated criticism of the regime's management.

In this scenario, the possibility that the president may have considered stepping down has been interpreted by some observers as a sign of the tensions that may exist between civil institutions and power centers dominated by military and religious sectors.

Amid the reports of Pezeshkian's resignation, protests and social unrest against the Jamenei regime continue.
