After confirming the death of the Iranian supreme leader in an air strike in Tehran, the Office of the President backed the joint offensive and recalled the attack against AMIA with 85 dead.

The removal of the Iranian supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, marked a historic turning point in the international geopolitical scene and caused an immediate reaction from the Argentine Government.

In an official statement, President Javier Milei celebrated the so-called Operation Epic Fury, the joint offensive launched by the United States and Israel, which ended the life of the top leader of the Islamic regime in Tehran.

The death of Khamenei represents, according to various international sources, the most important blow against the Iranian power structure in its history. The air attack was directed against a fortified underground facility where the supreme leader was sheltered next to his closest strategic circle. According to reports released by Israeli media, the offensive managed to penetrate the defensive infrastructure and eliminate the supreme leader along with several of his main advisors

The impact directly hit the underground complex, neutralizing the main objective and the dome that accompanied it at the time. Israeli officials confirmed that the body was recovered after the bombing. According to those same media, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received visual evidence proving the death of the Iranian leader

.

In parallel, US President Donald Trump was informed about the outcome of the offensive and had access to evidence confirming the elimination of the supreme leader. In addition, the Israeli army itself confirmed that multiple relevant figures in the Iranian security system died during the bombings, including the defense minister, Khamenei's most important advisor, the intelligence chief and the head of the military office

.

The military operation included coordinated attacks against strategic objectives and aimed to dismantle Iran's offensive capacity and eliminate those responsible for its military and security structure, with the objective of putting an end to the Islamic regime at the hands of Iranian citizens. The confirmation of the removal of the supreme leader redefines the balance of power in the region after an offensive that managed to reach the central core of the Islamic dictatorship

The press release from the Office of the President

In this context, the Office of the President of the Argentine Republic released a document dated in the City of Buenos Aires on February 28, 2026, in which it celebrated the

joint operation.

The official text stated: “The Office of the President welcomes the joint operation carried out by the United States and Israel today that resulted in the elimination of Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and one of the most evil, violent, and cruel people human history has ever seen.”

The statement added: “Their atrocities have not only been suffered by the Iranian people, but they have impacted across the globe.” In a passage of special relevance to Argentina, the Government recalled that the country was a direct victim of terrorism promoted by the Iranian regime: “The Argentine Republic has been the target of only one of its terrorist acts, the attack against AMIA on July 18, 1994, which resulted in 85 deaths and hundreds

injured on our soil.”
Ali Khamenei was eliminated.

As highlighted in the document, the Argentine Justice determined that it was an act of international terrorism planned from the highest levels of the Iranian regime of the time and executed by Hezbollah, which it defined as “the main terrorist group financed by

Iran”.

The President was categorical in reaffirming the State's policy on justice: “The search for justice for the 85 victims is a State policy and will continue until the last person responsible pays with his freedom or with his life for such a horrible crime.”

Finally, the statement expressed official expectation in the face of the new open scenario in the Middle East:

“The Argentine Republic hopes that this joint military action by our allied countries will put a definitive end to what were more than 40 years of oppression and human rights violations in Iran, and that at last the Iranian people will have peace and recover their

democracy.”

The Argentine Government's reaction not only involved a diplomatic celebration, but also a clear political definition: Argentina is on the side of Western democracies in the fight against international terrorism.

The death of Khamenei constitutes the most significant blow against the leadership of the Iranian regime in its entire history and opens a new phase in the regional conflict.

For the Milei administration, the fact is neither alien nor distant: it is directly linked to an open wound since July 18, 1994, when the attack against AMIA left 85 dead and hundreds injured.

In this framework, support for the joint offensive of the United States and Israel not only reaffirms a strategic alliance, but also projects a firm foreign policy, aligned with the defense of freedom, democracy and justice for victims of terrorism.
